Meet Phil Bennett

Phil Bennett was part of the initial HSQ+2 collaboration with Rachael Gladwin and is featured on “Shapechanger”. He has performed in “How Monkey Found His Swing” at the Just So Festival and the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester.

Phil studied Popular Music & Recording at The University of Salford graduating in 2003. Since then he has worked as a freelance musician based within Greater Manchester. He has worked mainly within the Jazz and Blues sphere being fortunate to have played with musicians such as Alan Barnes, Greg Abate, Mark Nightingale, Steve Waterman and Bruce Adams amongst others. Phil has performed at numerous Jazz and Blues festivals across the north west of England including the Manchester Jazz festival and the Great British Rhythm and Blues festival in Colne. He currently plays in various jazz groups and has held the drum seat for one the UK’s leading tribute acts, the Clone Roses.
